- Most of us probably thought that Amiga Format was an excellent mag,
- well it has severely gone down hill in my mind, let me tell you
- why.
- @1
- I have never entered a competition in my life, and I've certainly
- never won anything, but there it was, the AMOS Professional
- programming competition, I knew I was a good programmer, but the
- fact is I don't do competitions, the thought of £1000 pounds was
- very nice though, and it was my dad that suggested that I should at
- least try. So I Did.
- @5
- I decided to try a puzzle game that I later called Falling Down. I
- worked on it solidly so that I could complete it in time, I sent it
- in and waited.
- @3
- The first thing that dogged me was the fact that they put the date
- back on revealing the winner(s), never mind I said, maybe next
- month. Well finally they displayed the winners and I couldn't
- believe it when I looked down the list and saw that I was one of
- them.
- @4I read the page thoroughly, desperately trying to find out what I
- had won, nothing, not a sausage.
- @3
- I decided to ring them to find out but they just said that they
- were getting in touch with us one by one. Now if I'm not mistaken,
- the results were in June (or around there), and to this day I have
- heard nothing, but I do know the amazing prize that awaits us
- winners.
- @6
- The Prize
- @1
- Now hold on to your seats for this, because it is well worth
- entering the competition for. We won, advice on how to make it
- better.
- @5
- Yes, I was a bit surprised by hearing this, and the cash prize had
- changed as well. They said, "Using the information we give you, you
- could earn up to £250!" Well not exactly £1000 now is it?
- @1
- Well thanks a lot Amiga Format.
- @4
- But what did I do with Falling Down I hear you ask (probably), well
- after waiting a bit, I decided to send it in to the excellent
- company that is known as @1F1-Licenceware@4, and they signed me up.
- @2It's a hard life for us programmers. - Paul.
- @5[6
-
- Ooooh. Nasty Amiga Format. Slap on the back of your dangly hairy
- bits with a big stick with loads of spiky things sticking out of
- it! Yeeeeeaaaawwwwcchhhh !
-
- Lee Bamber also wanted to know what was
- going on with the compo, so now ye know
- Lee.
-
- I never entered the compo, so I can't
- moan about it, but surely AF can't go
- around doing this? Can they?
-
- What information did they give you Paul? We would like to know. I'm
- sure it doesn't quite make up for £1000 though. A good idea that AF
- could have done (maybe) was to release ALL compo winner's titles at
- a small price via Mail Order and pay the winners some dosh.
-
- They could at least have spent a few pages of the mag reviewing
- each of the winning titles and given out contact addresses. That
- way, the winners could have sold their own titles and made some
- money. Let's face it, the winning titles were ALL professional -@1AG
